Manlove Ave??

Steve & I saw this street sign at the turn off to get to the house from East Helena. We had to take a picture. Who in their right mind names a street MANLOVE AVENUE?? Was it a joke that someone accidentally took seriously? This happened after we saw a sign in Townsend for "Donkey Ball." Hahahaha. What the hell is going on around here?? (It was later explained to us Donkey Ball is actually a basketball game in which people hop on donkeys & try to play. Welcome to Montana.)

Ha, their loss!

Sorry for the lack of posts recently... I was mercilessly laid-off from Baker Energy the same day of my last post (May 4) & just haven't had it in me to write anything. Luckily, I see this as *prime* opportunity to find work more in line with what I love. Sure I'm pissed off about the whole thing (some things I won't go into in this post just don't make sense), but it's their loss. Not to sound egotistical, but if I do say so myself, I was an asset to that company & upon completion of my Master's (Dec 09), I would have been even more valuable.

Moving on... Last weekend (May 9), Steve & I went with some friends to run the Prickly Pear Land Trust "Don't Fence Me In" Run - we ran the 30K, our friends ran the 12K. Everyone did well & we had a great time in Helena. I ran with my camera & took a few pictures en route.

Beautiful views, tough run

Thurs
Strictly strength class (same routine as Tues)

Fri
Cycling class

Sat
Beaver Creek Slide fun run 1/2 marathon (actually 13.4 miles) - I beat last year's time by 7 minutes!! The run was tough, thanks to the hills, but the weather was beautiful & it was great to enjoy the sunshine. I carried my camera with me (practicing b/c I plan to carry the camera for a few of my other runs) & snapped two pictures (below). The run takes place closer to the foothills of the Big Horns & always promises great views.
Right past the first aid station ~5 miles

Heading up one of the (many) hills - ok, yes, running 13.4 miles is not easy, but these views make it all worth it. Notice the extremely muddy road; this is typical for a good portion of the run, making it messy & supremely fun. Although the added weight from mud build-up makes the hills that much harder...
